We are pleased to announce the first edition of the International Summer School on “The Regulation of Robotics in Europe: Ethical, Legal and Economic Implications”.
This unique initiative, funded by the European Commission through the Jean Monnet Program, stems from the successful experience of the RoboLaw (www.robolaw.eu) project and its subsequent developments.
The aim of the summer school is to provide students with a broad understanding of the many relevant implications of the regulation of robotics in Europe by
(i) Analyzing applicable European regulation and the standards enterprises need to conform to;
(ii) Discussing the relevant ethical and societal issues existing and foreseeable;
(iii) Analyzing the economic and management challenges robotic enterprises face
The teaching body is extremely diversified, including Lawyers, Engineers, Philosophers, Business and Management Experts, many of which directly participated in the RoboLaw project, to provide the most interdisciplinary perspective.
The coordinator of the Summer School is Dr. Bertolini, Assistant Professor of Private Law at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, and one of the leading experts in the regulation of robotics in Europe. Dr. Bertolini advised the European Parliament and Commission on multiple occasions in particular on issues regarding the regulation of robotics, liability and risk management and product standardization. His research is widely covered by national and international press, including The Economist, The Times, The Guardian, BBC Radio, Wired, Motherboard, Robotic Business Review, Corriere della Sera, Sole 24 Ore, La Stampa, Quotidiano Nazionale.
